RG&E Encourages Safety as Weather Worsens

As Sandy moves closer inland with heavy rains and blustery winds, RG&E encourages everyone to be prepare and be safe.
RG&E has been keeping up with the power outages, restoring power as quickly as possible. As the storm intensifies and safety becomes an issue, restoration times could get longer.
If your power goes out, RG&E wants to make sure you have flashlights and batteries ready to go, have a battery powered radio handy for new updates, and make sure your cell phones are fully charged. You should also have bottled water on hand.
RG&E also suggests refrigeration and freezer are turned up on high now. That way, if the power goes out and you keep the doors shut as much as possible, food can last up to 24 hours.
Down wires are also a serious issue. Officals say it's important to stay away from downed power lines even if they appear to be dead.
