The Southwedge has some new neighbors.
The Erie Harbor project is officially open.
The ribbon was cut on the new development.
It's been underway since 2004 and overcame hurdles about its design and flashy facade.
There are 131 apartments with rents range from $928 to $2500.
27 units are reserved for subsidized housing.
All have river views.
The apartments have been filling up fast and tenants say it's a great for the neighborhood.
"They add a whole bunch more people living here, it's a different type of apartment, amazing views, people think it's million dollar condos, they can't believe its a rental apartment," said Irene Allen.
"It's not singularly what the neighborhood needed but it's one of the things the neighborhood needed and also one of the strengths of the neighborhood made possible," said Allen Handelman, VP Conifer Realty.
The apartments are 80-percent filled.
