A local gym is preparing for a weight lifting fundraiser for breast cancer.

Monroe County Crossfit at World Gym is holding a Barbells for Boobs workout this Monday.

"We love to do things together, we love to do things that make a difference and this was an opportunity to do something that provides a great service," Erin King the local Barbells for Boobs Organizer said. "(It's) a much needed service to the community and allows us to do something that we love."

Already, more than 30 people have signed up for the workout. Two days away from the event and the gym has already exceed its $2,000 goal.

The money helps low income, uninsured women get mammograms. Seven percent of breast cancer cases impact women less than 40.

"I think Barbells for Boobs is a great organization the funds that we're raising are going to provide mammograms to people who otherwise wouldn't have access to them," Chris Ryan with Monroe County CrossFit said. "It's a disease that has affected me personally. Being able to give back and to help other people avoid feeling that loss is something that is very personal to me."

Monroe County Cross Fit is still allowing people to sign up for Monday's workout.
