That announcement came Thursday from Monroe County.
Southwest will convert existing AirTran Airways operations at the airport. Rochester is one of four cities in the nation that will be part of this conversion and merger with AirTran.
Eighteen percent of all passengers out of Rochester use AirTran. The county says AirTran is the third most traveled airline out of Rochester. It averages six non-stop flights per day from Rochester.
