A former Miss New York was in town Saturday, helping to spread an anti-bullying message.

Kaitlin Monte was the keynote speaker at the Children's Mental Health Coalition's anti-bullying conference. The goal of the conference was to provide resources, and educate kids on how to stand-up to bullies.

Monte hopes to continue her work as an anti-bullying advocate.

"I almost do this full time. Even though I'm not officially Miss New York I don't wear the crown and my year's over my work as an advocate is not and I have the pleasure of working with organizations like this that keep it a priority," she says.

Monte chose an anti-bullying platform while competing for Miss New York and Miss America.
