The kids who were on the school bus are okay. Two teenagers who were inside the car have been admitted to Strong Hospital. The other two teenage passengers were still being evaluated in the emergency department as of late Tuesday night.

The car was demolished, after it rear ended a Brighton school bus. Bright School District Superintendent Kevin McGowan, says four teenagers were inside, "there were four high school age students in the vehicle."

The students all attended Brighton High School. It was a delicate situation with emergency crews from Brighton, Pittsford, Penfield, West Webster, Henrietta, and Rochester responded.

They used wooden blocks to lift the bus and free the teens who were pinned underneath, "it took quite a bit of effort to remove the passengers from the vehicle," said John Henderson, Chief of the Brighton Police Department. Jonathan Smith, Operations Director of Brighton Volunteer Ambulance added, "all of the individuals in the car were transported based upon the fact that they did have injuries that required further care at the hospital."

Four students from Council Rock Elementary School, and a driver, were on the bus. None of them were hurt.

As police investigate the crash the Brighton School District is working to support students and faculty at the schools, "the school districts response teams have immediately responded to the accident, communicating with parents and are activating every response that we need to, to support our students and staff," said McGowan.

The Brighton School District plans to have counselors available for students and staff on Wednesday.
