They were racing for education Saturday at Monroe Community College. More than 150 people came out to run or walk during MCC's Homecoming 5K.

The run raises money for the MCC Foundation's Scholarship Fun. On Saturday, one lucky student won a $250 scholarship. Organizers say it was all about showing school spirit and helping students earn a quality education.

The MCC Foundation hoped to raise more than they did last year - $5,600 dollars. Organizers say they were close to meeting their goal before the race even started.
