It's Domestic Violence Awareness Month; a sensitive subject at SUNY Brockport and a reminder of the death of 18-year-old Alex Kogut.
Now, students are taking a stand against domestic violence by holding events all week.
"Walk a Mile in her Shoes" starts Wednesday. Students sign a pledge promising not to engage in domestic violence. Male students walk across College Mall in red high heels.
On Thursday, there is "Operation Green and Gold." Students write their own personal message against domestic violence.
"So many women are taken advantage of and this week specifically we have seen just a terrible event that happened. I just think the word should be spread more, and we should get more men mainly involved," said Jonathan Kelly, a sophomore at SUNY Brockport.
