News 8 has learned that Kodak employees who don't volunteer to leave could learn the fate of the jobs next week.

Employees tell us meetings have been ongoing in all Kodak departments following Kodak's announcement it will cut 1,000 jobs worldwide by the end of the year.

This is video from six months ago when Kodak workers met at a town hall meeting with CEO Antonio Perez.

Employees tell us now that Kodak is asking employees to volunteer and take a separation agreement.

If they don't reach the numbers needed, sources tell us Kodak will let employees know next week if their jobs are cut.

Area economists say Rochester is no longer as dependent on Kodak's manufacturing jobs as it once was but the cuts do have an impact.

"They are still a significant employer. There is no doubt that they are a smaller company than back in the day when 60-thousand Rochestarians worked for Kodak. But we are still talking thousands of positions. Any community that is creating on the order of 8,000 jobs as we have in 12 months, with another 1,000 out you are going to have slowed growth," said Gary Keith/Regional Economist M&T Bank.

Sources tell news 8 that employees who don't take a separation agreement should find out next Tuesday if there job is cut or not.
