Several Rochester firefighters rose up the ranks Monday.

Lieutenants Christine Schryver and Thomas McMahon were promoted to the rank of captain. Schryver is the department's very first female fire captain. She has been with Rochester Fire for the past 16 years. Additionally, firefighters Greg Borden, Scott Erbland and Matt Sauer were all promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Erbland has been with Rochester Fire for the past 27 years and he has worked out of the same station since that time.
