When it's nice out, you can find Melissa Morale and her family at the park. It's just one of the ways they are living a healthy lifestyle. Morale's daughter Damariz also takes dance. Her son Jayden goes to the track with his dad.
"So I can practice running really fast so I can get good at racing," Jayden explains. When it comes time for meals, Morale says it's important to eat together.
"That way I can actually watch what they're eating. I make their plate, we eat together, if they want seconds I know what they're getting," Morale says. Being creative with meals also helps ensure her children eat healthy foods.
"Because they don't eat a lot of vegetables, we have to substitute other things in to make them see, oh it's chicken and rice, and some peas, but they don't see the peas, mix it in all together," Morale explains.
When it comes time for holidays, like Halloween, Morale says there are healthy alternatives as well.
"Instead of having caramel apples you can have peanut butter apples because that would be more healthier, and you can have the kids do it themselves," Morale says. She states that's what it's all about, getting her kids involved in making healthy choices that create good habits for a lifetime.
