Attorney General's Office Cracks Down on Phony Texting Service

A mobile content company has agreed to pay a $500,000 fine after many New Yorkers were tricked into signing up for texting services.

The company Game Theory, LLC, sent texts to people claiming they had a secret crush. That signed them up for a service that costs $9.99 a month. The Attorney General's office says consumers should never respond to those type of messages to protect themselves from unwanted charges.
