The 30 second ad accuses Brooks of creating a culture of corruption and fraud as Monroe County Executive. Brooks has called the ad a new low for politics.
"Mrs. Slaughter, by releasing this ad today, has set the tone for negative mudslinging in this campaign," Brooks stated.
Brooks said the issues in the commercial have been fully vetted, and pointed out, voters have supported her in multiple elections.
"They trust my leadership, they trust my judgement and they know that we have acted appropriately when individuals violate the public trust," Brooks continued.
With Slaughter in Washington, her campaign defended the ad's content, saying the first scandal referenced was from a news report last week.
Brooks insists the spot reveals Slaughter doesn't want to have a substantive debate. She says she plans to release her own commercials which will focus on issues, not personal attacks.
