Democrats to Vote in New 137th Assembly District

Primary day is Thursday for several big races in our area. Democrats in
Rochester and Gates will vote in the newly drawn 137th Assembly
District. Assemblyman David Gantt has held the seat since 1983.
John Lightfoot, who represents the city of Rochester as a Monroe County Legislator and Jose Cruz, Vice President of the Rochester City School Board, are challenging Gantt.
Lightfoot says Albany has stunted job growth through red tape regulations--something he pledges to change. Cruz says that voters tell him that their number one priority is the economy.
On Friday, Gantt received the endorsement of Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Polls are open on Thursday from noon to 9 o'clock.
