The National Science Foundation granted the money in order to fund an RIT Learning Assistant program for those majoring in physics, biology, chemistry and math (STEM) in RIT's College of Science.
The Learning Assistants are undergraduates who work with instructors to implement student-centered pedagogies in STEM classrooms. The efforts then support Tech2Teach, an agreement between RIT and Nazareth College, which allows RIT undergrads to begin graduate work in Nazareth's Master of Science education program during their third and fourth years.
