Rochester Police are teaming up with an unlikely party for a new initiative against violence.

Police chief James Sheppard and his department are working with inmates from the Orleans County Jail and a local church for the "Civic Duty Initiative Program." The program is designed to take guns off the streets through a gun buy-back system. Citizens can turn in their weapons and receive up to $100 in the form of a gift card to Wegmans. The participating inmates raised over $1,000 over a year and a half to fund the program.

Guns can be dropped off during the buy-back event on September 22nd from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Gospel Church at 614 Clifford Avenue.
