It's "Wambach Mania" this weekend in Rochester. The Olympic gold medal winner is back in her hometown and getting ready to take on the soccer team from Costa Rica.
The city officially welcomed home the Rochester hero by renaming the main walkway into the stadium "Wambach Way."
"I couldn't be more honored to be from Rochester and for them to do this for me. That's why I call Rochester the best city to raise a family in. They always take care of their own," said Wambach.
After the dedication, Team USA held a public practice. Fans had the chance to see Abby up close and personal when the whole team signed autographs.
It was a dream come true for those who couldn't get a ticket to tomorrow's big game.
"I've been playing soccer for a majority of my life and hearing about Abby coming through. We always followed her at our house and we just love soccer," said Sarah Backus.
It was an added bonus for those who will be at tomorrow's game. The Tobin family traveled from Erie.
"We will be at the game tomorrow. We will be in the second row to watch their heroes," said Kelly Tobin.
"I think that this is going to be one of those events that people will remember and talk about for many years to come because you know Rochesterians. We love to tell stories about the past and hopefully this is one that goes to the top of everybody's list," said Wambach.
