Officials from the New York State Canal Corporation are touring the Erie Canal for inspection.

Inspectors stopped in Rochester Thursday after making stops on Tonawanda, Lockport, Gasport, Middleport, Medina and Albion. A 25-mile section of the canal was recently closed after damage to a culvert pipe caused a big sinkhole. That section has since reopened.
