West Nile Virus Death Reported in Syracuse

A person in the Syracuse area has died from the West Nile virus.

The victim is an older adult with several other medical conditions. This is the second reported case of West Nile in Onondaga County this year and the first ever known death from West Nile in that county. Deaths from West Nile are rare. About 80 percent of people with the virus don't know that they are infected.

So far there have not been any reported cases of West Nile virus in Monroe County.
