School officials say Donald Raw submitted his resignation during a special board meeting Monday night. Raw told News 8 that his decision was made in part because of a recent health scare and the passing of his sister from cancer. The first day of school is September 6th. The school board has not yet named an interim superintendent.
News 8 spoke with Canandaigua School Board Vice President Beth Thomas. She says "it was not expected. Don resigned for his own personal reasons, and I have to respect his personal decision. An interim superintendent will be in place before school starts."
Raw has been with the district since 2006. He says he plans to remain in Canandaigua and be with his family.
