Scuba Diver Hit by Boat

Updated: August 12, 2012
A Penfield man was hit by a boat while scuba diving in Canandaigua lake Sunday afternoon.

Ontario County Sheriffs say Frank Porter was coming up for air when he was hit by a Pontoon boat operated by Mark Buckley. Porter was 20 yards from the shore and was brought in by Buckley after the accident. Porter was transported to FF Thompson Hospital with a broken arm.

Porter was not using a diver's safety flag at the time and was issued a citation for failing to display the proper marker (red/white flag) by a scuba diver.

Police say there is no evidence that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident
