Fresh off their win at the Olympics in London, the U.S. women's soccer team, and Abby Wambach, will play an exhibition game here in Rochester.
Tickets for the post-Olympic victory tour at Sahlen's Stadium will go on sale on Friday, August 17.
The U.S. will take on Costa Rica in its first match after winning the gold medal. Organizers expect a sell out with more than 15,000 people attending
On September 1, the Rochester Rhinos will hand over their home stadium to the U.S. women's soccer team. The stadium is no stranger to national teams. Since 1996, President Pat Ercoli says they've hosted more than seven games.
With Abby Wambach and Team USA in the mix, the stadium will have to undergo changes. Extra parking facilities and bleacher seats are needed, as well as, security and ushers.
Ercoli says things always get more interesting when a hometown girl is involved.
"Since Abby has been on the team obviously it's been given a different spin, and knowing that we had success last year after the World Cup game, the sell out crowd that came to us and said hey are you interested in doing another game this year and we certainly were," said Pat Ercoli.
You can order your tickets on August 17 at 10 a.m. through ussoccer.com, by calling 1-800-745-3000, at all Rochester area Ticketmaster ticket centers and the Sahlen's Stadium ticket office.
