Family and friends said a final goodbye to Heather Boyum Thursday.
They packed a church in Fairport to remember the teacher described as outgoing and full of life.
On Thursday, it was clear that the Fairport High School science teacher was a mentor in and out of the classroom. People close to Heather say she lived her life with passion. Heather was a dedicated wife and mother of two.
All agreed that Heather taught them to never take a day for granted and to have a blast while doing it.
"Always very, very friendly and outgoing anytime we saw her out on the street. She was always smiling and saying hi to everyone, very friendly," said neighbor Eileen Belaskas.
"We planned prom together. All the dances. We just had a blast. She was always making me laugh," said former student Robby Magee.
"She took her lunch break to help me because I was struggling at first, and she just did whatever she could to help me succeed," said student Ryan Ruscio.
"She taught us to care about everyone and everything and to put our heart into everything we do," said student Ashley Timmons.
