Taha Alashwal, 34, was arraigned on two charges of criminal sex act. Prosecutors say Alashwal had sexual contact with a 14-year-old boy at a hotel in Henrietta back in June. Alashwal took the boy to the hotel under the pretense of rewarding him for his good grades in school. Prosecutors say Alashwal also "groomed" his alleged victim by giving him free food and candy. Alashwal owns several small convenience stores in the city, along with a Mojoe's Restaurant location. Assistant District Attorney Kyle Rossi says the victim in this case was an employee of Alashwal.
Alashwal is currently out on $25,000 bail. Another nearly-identical case against him is pending in Syracuse. He will be back in court on August 7th.
