Rochester is getting some top honors when it comes to being a "best city."

Kiplinger Magazine has ranked Rochester as the 5th Best City for Families. The ranking comes because of the metropolitan areas population which exceeds 1,000,000.

The unemployment rate is at 8 percent. The median household income is $51,434. The write-up in Kiplinger says even though Kodak is in bankruptcy, the area has family friendly assets including top ranked public and private schools.

Rochester's been recognized because of the University of Rochester, the Rochester Institute of Technology, along with the National Museum of Play at the Strong.

Rochester is also being recognized for its sports teams including the Amerks, Red Wings, and Rhinos.
