DirecTV customers have been left without a total of 17 national networks because of this dispute. DirecTV executives say they reached out to Viacom both Tuesday and Wednesday with a new proposal and a request to keep the channels on while the two sides continued to negotiate. The dropped channels include Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and MTV.
DirecTV says customers would be forced to pay a 30 percent rate hike for some of the Viacom network channels that have been dropped.
