Local Doctoral Nursing Student Receives Award For HIV Research

A Rochester doctoral nursing student has received the Fulbright Award, which will launch his groundbreaking HIV research in Jamaica.

Orlando Harris is the first doctoral student from the University of Rochester's School of Nursing to receive the award. Harris will go to Jamaica in December for a 10-month project on HIV prevention and risk among young gay Jamaican men. The Fulbright Award is an international exchange scholarship started in 1946. Harris is one of the few recipients of grant funds to conduct research in the Caribbean.
