A former Gates-Chili coach is headed to jail after pleading guilty to the rape of a 16-year-old student.
As part of the plea deal, Monte Nowden is expected to spend one-and-a-half years in prison followed by ten years of supervision.
Nowden was arrested on February 6th after police say he had sex with a 16-year-old female student from Gates-Chili high school in a movie theatre.
The former coach was arrested again in May after police found him in a car with the same teenager.
Nowden's attorney had no comment after the hearing.
The victim's attorney says she is pleased with Monday's outcome.
"Certainly it's a sad day in our community when children are not safe at school; it's the one place that we want to be able to send them and know that no one is going to hurt them and they are not going to be taken advantage of, so the fact that Monte Nowden pled gulity and took responsibility for what he did makes us happy with the outcome," said Amanda Balling.
A formal sentencing will take place on August 15th.
