Vigil For Homicide Victim

By: WROC-TV
Updated: July 9, 2012
Family and friends gathered Sunday night to remember the victim of Rochester's twenty first homicide of 2012.  16-year-old Raven Cooper was shot on Bay Street a week ago Sunday.

He later died at Rochester General Hospital.  Witnesses tell News 8 Cooper was shot by a man who may have had a fight with him not long before the shooting.

Cooper's mother hosted Sunday night's vigil.  She has a message for people involved in gun violence.  Mahogany Dodd says, "stop running these streets and getting into things because as you can see my son was only 16 and he's not even here now.  I hope this will be a learning example for everybody because nobody wants to go through this."

Police tell us no arrests have been made in Cooper's death.
