New York State Appellate Court Upholds Gay Marriage Law

By: WROC-TV
Updated: July 6, 2012
The New York State Court of Appeals ruled against a lawsuit aimed at discrediting the gay marriage law.

Several reports say the suit was filed by an anti-gay marriage group. Their argument was that the passage of the law violated the Open Meetings Law. The group claimed that Governor Cuomo and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg met behind closed doors with Republican Senate legislators.

Governor Cuomo passed the gay marriage law in June 2011.
