Fatal Accident in Genesee County

A Mumford man died from his injuries Sunday morning after being hit by a minivan.

20-year-old Casey Parnell was struck on Sumner Road in the Town of Darien Saturday night.

Genesee County Sheriffs say that Parnell was standing on the shoulder on Sumner Road. He suddenly entered the roadway where he was struck by a minivan.

Parnell was transported by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center.

The incident is still under investigation. No charges are anticipated for the driver.
