Gates Police Claim Officer Shot Dog in Self-Defense

Gates Police say one of their officer's shot a dog in self defense. This is the third incident in the past few months were a uniformed officer in the Rochester area was forced to shoot a family pet.
A body camera worn by the officer shows the officer shoot at the dog after he charged at the officer. The dog was hit in the leg. Police say the family chose to have the dog euthanized.
The owner says the dog never bit anyone. Police say they have been called to that house several times. The owner, Jerome Johnson was ticketed for having an unleashed dog and a dangerous animal, which is a misdemeanor.
