A Fairport teenager is getting national attention for his emergency response skills. Tyler Tornstrom, 17, placed second in Skills USA. It's a competition for teens preparing for careers in trade, technical or health occupations. Tornstrom competed in five different scenerios mostly involving C.P.R. "Honestly, I did it just to have fun because I absolutely love this job and I don't want to do anything but this," said Tornstrom. The teen already has an impressive resume. He is an explorer in The Bushnell's Basin Fire Department, a dispatcher in Perinton and was recognized as EMS Youth Provider of the Year. "It doesn't get any better than that does it? As hard as he worked in EMS and fire here it shows," said Steve Page, Bushnell's Basin Fire Dept. Tornstrom plans on taking the state test to become an EMT in August.
