Nowden's trial will begin July 9th. He's accused of having sexual relations with a 16-year-old female student in a movie theater in January. He was re-arrested and charged in May after police found him with his alleged rape victim, violating an order of protection.
Nowden's attorney has tried to get the charges dropped after the victim submitted a statement saying that she felt pressured by investigators and the District Attorney's office. In a sworn affidavit, the victim said she lied to the grand jury and only told a classmate that she had sex with Nowden to make other girls jealous.
Nowden will be back in court July 6th for pre-trial matters.
