Video Shows Greece Students Harassing Bus Monitor

A YouTube video of students harassing a bus monitor in The Greece
Central School District has gone viral. The YouTube video shows
several students verbally abusing and taunting Karen Klein. Klein, a
grandmother, has been working in the district for more than 20 years.
"It's kind of scary. I never thought anything like this would ever
happen," said Klein.
The students, who attend Greece Athena Middle School, call her names and even threaten her life. School District officials are trying to identify the students involved. "We do not tolerate harassment of staff or students," said Dr. Deb Hoeft, Greece Central School District. Officials have activated its Bullying Response and Prevention Team.
The Greece Police Department is exploring the possibility of filing charges. However, because the students are juveniles they would appear in family court. Captain Steve Chatterton says they are also worried about the safety of the students involved. People have been posting their names and addresses online. "There are people showing up here angry. We understand that. Give us time to look into the investigation," said Chatterton. "Please don't jump to conclusions. These are 13 and 12-year-old kids." The District has received angry emails from people around the world including Australia. Klein has been receiving positive messages on Facebook and flowers from strangers. She hopes the children involved learn a lesson. Klein said, "I hope you never do it again to anybody else."

PARENTS NEED TO STEP UP AS BETTER ROLE MODELS FOR THEIR CHILDREN AND TEACH THEM VALUES BECAUSE IF THEY ARE 12 AND TREATING PEOPLE LIKE THIS THEY HAVE A LOT OF TROUBLE AHEAD IN LIFE!!!

Karen, I admire your strength and courage in this matter. I am very sorry for the pain that these kids caused you. It is very sad to me that kids now a days think they can treat ANYBODY the way that you were treated. Parents and children all over this world need to learn that this is cruel cruel cruel and totally sickening. You seem like a wonderful woman and I am sending my love from Buffalo, NY! Wishing you the best and hoping for a huge wake up call to the children that are not being taught how to treat others!

The kids did something stupid and obscene ... no doubt. They should be held accountable. But lets not forget the parents. Blame must be shared by the parents as the lack of respect and decent behavior comes from them. The crisis in this country is the lack of values taught and exemplified by parents.

This makes me sick to see a woman get harassed by these kids....Personally I would not care how old they were. They need to be put in jail and be charged..

What happened to Karen is tragic. These children need to learn that what they've done carries serious consequences. When are we going to make the correlation between what happened to Karen this week, and what happens to children all over our country every SINGLE day? Children have taken their lives because of teens like these. Our society has to change!

they did nothing to protect us students when i went to Olympia what make me or anyone believe they will do anything. i mean they allowed a security gaurd to assult a student and did NOTHING. this is truly sickening!
