Shortly after 11pm, police responded to 327 Reynolds St. for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims. Craig Wilson, 35, suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Elizabeth Weems, 39, sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of her lower torso. She was also transported to strong, with non life-threatening injuries. Weems has since been released from the hospital.
Both victims were sitting on a front Porch, at the time of the shooting. Police Chief Jim Sheppard says it's all part of a violent trend among the city's young people that began about 4 months ago. This was the second of two shootings in Rochester, within less than 24 hours.
The suspect is a lone male. Police say the suspect walked up to a group of individuals on the porch and opened fire with a handgun. The male fled the scene, before police arrived. At this time, it is unknown if the two victims were the intended targets.
Police are investigating.
