A 14-year-old is facing charges for attempting to stab a New York State trooper.

Trooper Eric Weingartner responded to the teen's Sodus residence on reports that the teen was threatening suicide. As Weingartner attempted to take the teen for a mental evaluation, police say the teen pulled a knife and stabbed him. Weingartner was not injured because of his bulletproof vest. The teen is charged with attempted aggravated assault.
