Victim of Bug Jar Shooting Identified

Rochester Police have identified the man killed outside the Bug Jar early Monday.
Deavoughn Hernandez-Ruffin, 21, was shot just before midnight outside the bar, which is on Monroe Avenue. Officers said it all began inside The Bug Jar bar where a rap concert was going on. He was rushed to Strong Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"Two factions were going back and forth, which turned into a large brawl that spilled out into the parking lot. Then we had reports of about three shots fired in the parking lot with about 100 people involved in a fight," said Lieutenant Scott Peters.Police said the victim was trying to give them information before he was taken to the hospital. Another person at the scene was treated for an asthma attack. Rochester police are still investigating and so far no arrests have been made.
