33rd Annual Black Scholars Dinner

Hundreds of African-American students from our area were praised for their hard work Tuesday night.

The Urban League of Rochester hosted its 33rd annual "Salute to Black Scholars" dinner. The event recognizes African-American students who receive a B average or higher for seven straight semesters. A total of 60 schools in six counties participate in the program. It awards as much as $2.5 million in college scholarships each year.

Over the years, the program has helped more than 8,000 students attend college.
