Pennsylvania Jail Escapee Caught in Fredonia

Joseph Chapman was transferred back to Pennsylvania on May 22nd. "America's Most Wanted" will air on June 8th at 9 p.m. on the Lifetime Network with an update on his capture. New York State Police say Chapman escaped from the McKean County Jail in Pennsylvania in July 2007. He is charged with sexual assault of a child and rape. Police received a tip from an area viewer that had seen the show Chapman was featured in. The tipster told police that Chapman was in Fredonia. Investigators believe he was living under the name Joshua Thompkins.
Police say Chapman spent a lot of time in Western New York since he escaped from jail. Anyone with information on Chapman's whereabouts in the past few years is asked to call New York State Police at 716-665-3113.
