Daniel and Contessa Cassel's home is rooted in the Marines. With three children it is also  filled with laughter, joy and love.

The Cassel's were stationed in Hawaii when they learned they would be transferred to the Rochester area. The couple says the Heroes Home Advantage program was a godsend.

"I mean this type of home we probably wouldn't be able to move into," Marine Daniel Cassel said.
"She really brought a team - I mean a major team together," Contessa Cassel said. "I never would have thought we'd be able to find something like a house like this."

Ladd Exclusive Agency helps search for homes and offers discounts from lawyers, inspectors and contractors. At the end of the sale realtors give back 25 percent of their commission.

"It's very helpful," Daniel Cassel said. "Overall, we saved $2,000."

Michele Ladd started the Hero's Home Advantage program a year ago when she opened her company. She has two links to the military; one son is in the Marines, the other the Navy.

"I just thanked God every day for (my son's) safe return and then my youngest went into the Navy," Ladd said. " I just thought, I had to do something."

Her program also honors police officers, firefighters, nurses and other first responders. So far, she's helped 35 families like the Cassels save $70,000.

"At the end to see someone hand you over a check and says thanks for your family's service, and you're receiving this check you're grateful for that," Contessa Cassel said. "Because that's helping you start off your new beginning."

Ladd said it's a small gesture, compared to the sacrifice made by our heroes.
