Nate Berkus- Wood Floor Discoloration

Audience member Marie tells Nate that she has an ornamental rug over exotic hardwood flooring. Marie wants to place a smaller rug in the same area, but the wood color beneath the original covered area is now a different color than the surrounding area that has been exposed to sunlight.
Nate informs Marie that she will unfortunately have to refinish the floor, or get a similar sized rug to replace the old one. Nate warns that you need to be careful with sunlight and what you use to refinish the floors that are exposed to it. Nate also notes that sometimes the chemicals in non-skid rug pads can interact with the floor color. Nate recommends using felt rug pads instead.
