Body Found Inside Pool in Irondequoit

Police believe a body found inside a pool at an Irondequoit home Thursday is that of missing teenager Larie Butler.

The Medical Examiner has yet to release a positive identification.

Police executed a search warrant at 174 Dorington Road.  The address is the home of the grandmother of the boy who police believe was the last person to see Butler before she went missing.

Evidence, including what appeared to be a rug, was taken out of the home during the afternoon.  The search expanded to a pool in a neighboring yard.  "Through good police work a Rochester Police investigator noticed a brick on an enclosed pool that was moved," said Irondequoit Police Chief Richard Boyan.

The Laurelton Fire Department was called in to drain the pool, which had dark and murky water from apparent lack of use in recent years.  A police helicopter also circled overhead.  Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley joined investigators.  Shortly before six o'clock police made the discovery, a female body believed to be Butler.  "The Medical Examiner has to do an investigation for positive identification, but at this time we do have reason to believe that it's probably her," said Rochester Police Deputy Chief Mike Wood.

Police said they do not have a suspect in custody.  The 18 year old boy who Butler told her mother she was going to the mall with is not cooperating with investigators according to police.
