Despite overcoming a 14-point deficit to take a lead midway through the 4th quarter, the Aquinas boys were unable to hang on, losing to Mount Vernon in the Class AA State Championship 61-57.

Aquinas senior forward Phil Valenti was named the tournament's MVP scoring 33 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. However, the Knights were able to make just enough plays to grab a lead with 3 minutes remaining and not let go. Mount Vernon was led by Isaiah Cousins and his 22 points and 9 rebounds.

For Mount Vernon, it's their 10th state title. Aquinas ends the season with a 21-3 record.
