Rose Ayala had 17 points and 12 boards while Taylor Hosbey scored a career high 15 as East got past Grand Island 59-54 in the Class A State Quarterfinals Saturday at Finger Lakes CC.

It's the first trip ever for East to a State Final Four.

East led by four points after three quarters, but scored the first six points of the fourth to take a ten point lead. Renatta Fordham capped the run with a breakout layup.

Grand Island would not go away, but Aaliyah Dunbar's take gave the Orientals a ten point lead with two minutes remaining. The lead was cut to five with under a minute to go, but Grand Island did not have time to get closer.

Dunbar added 13 points and Fordham finished with nine.

East will next play Friday at 1:30p in the state semifinals at Hudson Valley CC.
