Driver Charged After Fatal Car Accident

One person is dead after a car accident in the Town of North Dansville early Saturday morning.

Passengers, Joshua Stiggins, 22 of Dansville, died as a result of his injuries after the car flipped over

Livingston County Sheriff, John York, said that police found the vehicle on Frontage Road with a passenger who had been ejected.

There were five people in the car and one person was unresponsive when police arrived on scene.

All five people were taken to Noyes Memorial Hospital.

The driver, Clayton Benedict, 18 of West Sparta, is charged with DWI, vehicular manslaughter  in the second degree, and other traffic offenses.

Benedict was arraigned in West Sparta Town Court and has been remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $25,000 cash bond/$50,000 bond.
