Robach's bill would allow retirees under the age of 65 and ineligible for Medicare to qualify for Healthy NY. The bill is a preventative measure in case the retirees lose their health benefits as a result of the Kodak's bankruptcy filing. If the company decided to get rid of health benefits, retirees who don't qualify for Medicare would be without insurance. The Chapter 11 filing has left many current and former Kodak employees uneasy and insecure about the future of their pensions and benefits.
The bill is currently under review by the State Senate Insurance Committee.
