At the YMCA in Victor, older adults take part in everything from aerobics
to drumming. But don't let the term "silver sneakers" fool you! These classes are challenging and their instructor makes sure of it. Sue Hodder makes fitness, fun. "She does so much for our active older adult groups here and everyone loves her," says Jacquie Wilder, Member Services director. "She's very important to them."Sue's colleagues think she makes a Golden Giver, and we agree. For 14 years, she's been a mainstay at the Y. But she also teaches fitness off-campus, at local churches and assisted living homes.
"They bring a lot of joy into my life and I hope I'm giving them something back in return," Sue says. "I hope they're enjoying themselves, I hope they feel stronger, and their endurance is building so their every day life is fun and easy." Every day, Sue helps active older adults meet health goals on their terms. She's the instructor with a smile, leading the count on fitness.
