The young lady who nominated our News 8 Golden Apple Award winner is going to become a scientist and do great things. And she gives her Seventh Grade Science Teacher Christina Peters a lot of the credit. Here's our surprise at the Integrated Arts and Technology High School at the Franklin Campus in Rochester.

Walk into Christina Peters' classroom at the Integrated Arts And Technology High School and you might wonder what she's teaching? Principal Kevin Klein says she make's Science fun. "She knows the pulse of the students and the activities, the design for the kids to be engaged in the classroom. And if you go into her classroom usually the kids are hands on, they're moving they're involved with what they're learning. And that's what makes her classroom very exciting."

Seventh Grader Lebrielle Cowlay says Ms. Peters is the first person to really inspire her to follow her dreams. "She really encouraged me to do what I want to do in life. She really made it possible for me to believe in myself."

Lebrielle asked us to say thank you. When we walked into her classroom Christina was definitely surprised. "Oh my God are you serious? Thank you Lebrielle, thank you so much. I can't believe it. I'm gonna cry. I have chills."

As a Science Teacher, Ms. Peters is used to dealing with facts and figures, but you can't measure a gift, like Lebrielle's, that comes from the heart. "I love being a teacher because I love my students. They inspire me. And I'm glad I can inspire them. Thank you so much. I'm sorry. I'm crying, everybody cries in this right?"

Christina Peters is a News 8 Golden Apple Award winner. If you look below you can read the letter we got from Lebrielle nominating her.

Dear News 8,

Mrs. Peters is the kind of Science Teacher every student would want. Mrs. Peters does not only teach, but she cares, inspires and knows what's best for each and every student she teaches in her wonderful class. Mrs. Peters is not only a teacher, but a best find everyone would want.
She is the first person to really inspire me to become a scientist and have a job I will love one day. Science is my favorite class with my favorite teacher in it. I can't wait to go to science class and it's because of her.

Sincerely,

Lebrielle Cowlay
