"Green" trends are continuing to spread through the automotive industry. Now there is a high-end luxury car with lots of environmental advantages. It drives like a sports car, but is no gas guzzler. The Fisker "Karma" is in a class all it's own.

"This is the world's first luxury full plug-in hybrid," says Rick Dorschel of the Dorschel Automotive Group. You can drive about 300 miles on a charge. After that the gas kicks in. And that's not the only "green" feature this car has.

"the solar roof continuously charges the battery that takes care of all the house needs, power windows, seats, radio, ac," Dorschel adds. It brings new meaning to the term "sun roof". "Very eco-friendly from start to finish," says Cheryl Carney, the Fisker Consultant at Dorschel.

Dorschel says, "everything about the car has an environmental edge. The leathers are tanned and developed in a different way using only green technology." Even the paint that's used is better for the environment. You won't see too many Karma's on Rochester's roadways. Only 1200 of them have been made around the world.

The cost for one: About a $100,000. "A lot of curiosity absolutely and this initial car is a niche car you won't see a hundred of them on the road due to it's price point," says Carney.

It's a sign that green cars are here to stay. "You just can't believe that much performance comes out of a car that's environmentally responsible and looks so darn good," says Dorschel.

With the approval of the Obama administration, an electric car company that received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee is assembling its first line of cars in Finland, saying it could not find a facility in the United States capable of doing the work.

Will American taxpayers get a discount? The research and development and production costs were paid for by the U.S. Taxpayer, thru Al Gore,a major supporter and stockholder. Did I fail to mention the Fiskar created jobs overseas, not in the U.S.?The milage when running just on the gas engine is horrible too.
